Einstein lived here for a few years and they turned the house into a museum.

This is the Aare River. The water is very emerald blue although it is hard to tell because of the overcast skies.

The famous church in the town is the Münster Cathedral.

This is the Garden of Roses.

The town had lots of neat shops. It was neat how you could access the underground shops like Lush. And this camera shop had a nice display of Gary Fongdongs (flash modifiers).

These are fountains in front of the Federal Palace.

It had been raining most of the time we had been in Switzerland until we arrived in Montreux. This is the view the next morning from the hostel we stayed at.

The town had a really cool camera museum.

We had booked a tour called “The Swiss Chocolate Train” which was a day trip that took us to Gruyere and Broc (highly recommend!)

They served us coffee and chocolate croissants (my absolute favourite pastry!) I finished mine, but JP likes to enjoy delayed gratification. They were really good.

These are views from the Chocolate Train.

First we toured the cheese factory in Gruyeres

Then we went to the historical town to have an authentic lunch of Fondue and Raclette.

This is the hotel that my husband’s father’s cousin’s son manages called St. Georges.

The Château de Gruyères is one of the most famous castles in Switzerland and was built in the 1200s.

The final stop on the train was to Broc which is home to the Callier Chocolate Factory. There was all-you-can-eat chocholate samples. We ate less than 4 before becoming sick.

The Montreux Jazz Festival is held every year and this year’s acts included Etta James, Herbie Hancock, Cheryl Crow, Alicia Keys, Paul Simon, Roberta Flack. The setting is so beautiful, it was a perfect day.

Here are some final Swiss window pictures. Notice the sleeping cat in the window sill. Next we head to France!
